Sabre announced Sabre Red 360 in February 2019 and is now actively rolling it out to their partner agencies and TMCs.

Alexander Shchedrin, VP, Strategic Services at DataArt, believes that now is the time to consider migrating from Sabre Scribe Scripts to Sabre Red Apps.

Sabre Red 360 brings access to a reimagined user experience that is easy to master and to an unprecedented level of travel data and options; it will be the access point to NDC content, Content Services for Lodging and Sabre Air Shopping APIs.

The transition to Sabre Red 360 offers the right moment to revisit an agency or TMC strategy for workflow automation. Whether it is the addition of own content or implementation of the best practices, the Sabre Red 360 Developer Toolkit (the SDK) presents a full spectrum of possibilities.

With this toolkit, a more integrated solution for workflow automation is now possible. There’s never been a better time to make an investment to convert scribe scripts to modern workflow extension points. There are at least 3 reasons to consider that.

1. Seamless Automation.

The Sabre Red 360 architecture is built on APIs, making it easier to rapidly deploy new content as soon as it is available. Monthly updates will continue the trend of migrating functionality from host to Sabre APIs.

The workflow extension points are designed to work with APIs, unlike scripts which rely on screen scraping and active listening for manual commands. Sabre has enabled “Scribe Compatibility Mode” to circumvent APIs when a script is invoked, but the travel consultant will miss out on the full content and insights that APIs bring. It’s best to invest in a consistent workflow automation strategy now and reap the benefits for years to come.

2. It is more than a 1-to-1 migration.

With the advanced capabilities of the SDK, a single Red App can do so much more than dozens of scripts. With a Red App, the travel consultant can enter the information only once, and the app will have the necessary context to perform the rest of the operations. This can decrease end to end processing time and reduce the number of scans.

3. Integration with wider agency tooling.

Sabre Red Apps that provide access to Sabre APIs are able to seamlessly interact with other systems using web services. This means that information that currently has to be manually typed in by travel consultants can be pulled automatically after the migration to Sabre Red Apps, further reducing the end-to-end processing time.

The travel industry can already observe that agencies and TMCs choose to leverage the new capabilities of Sabre Red SDK. I am looking forward to the Sabre Technology Exchange next week to find out more opportunities for reducing cost and improving efficiencies using the tools that Sabre provides.
